Systems Engineer

Responsibilities

We’re looking for a Systems Engineer to join our Professional Services team. In this role, you’ll be on the frontlines—deploying, optimizing, and supporting the systems that power modern media operations. You’ll work on projects such as:
  • Deploying a SaaS-based MAM platform with cloud storage for a major Hollywood studio
  • Building high-end editorial and finishing suites in a large-scale production environment for a major retailer
  • Integrating AI-driven metadata tagging into post-production pipelines to streamline media management
Your mission is to engineer smart, scalable, and reliable technical solutions that keep creativity flowing and media moving.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Implement and optimize comprehensive media technology platforms—including MAMs, DAMs, project management systems, data orchestration tools, and media lifecycle management solutions—across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.
  • Configure and optimize SAN, NAS, and cloud-based storage platforms, along with the supporting network infrastructure that ensures their performance, reliability, and scalability
  • Collaborate with CHESA’s Solutions Consulting, Sales, and Support teams for seamless project delivery
  • Document system configurations, workflows, and client communications in detail
  • Identify upsell opportunities during deployments and coordinate with the sales team
  • Train editorial, creative, and technical users on new systems and workflows
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently while ensuring accurate billing and reporting
  • Escalate complex technical issues to internal teams and third-party vendors with appropriate context
  • Provide consultative guidance to clients and help distinguish between scope changes and change orders
  • Participate in continuous learning through certifications, vendor training, and self-development

Qualifications & Skills

Professional Background
  • 3–5+ years in systems engineering, IT infrastructure, broadcast engineering, or post-production technical support
  • Experience in customer-facing roles such as pre-sales engineering, consulting, or managed services
  • Understanding of media production workflows including ingest, editorial, finishing, delivery, and archive
Technical Fluency
  • Proficiency with shared storage technologies (SAN, NAS), backup, and archive solutions
  • Familiarity with Media Asset Management platforms such as Iconik, Mimir, CatDV, or similar
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, GCP or others  for media workflows and cloud storage
  • Strong networking fundamentals including Layer 2/3, VLANs, DNS, and VPN configuration
  • Operating system knowledge across macOS, Linux, and Windows environments
  • Exposure to automation/orchestration tools, including no-code/low-code platforms
  • Scripting knowledge (Bash, Python, or PowerShell) is a plus
  • Interest or experience in AI/ML applications for metadata tagging or media analysis is highly desirable

Additional Information

Location and Travel This position is based in Los Angeles, CA, with some travel required for client-site deployments. Travel may include multi-day or occasional out-of-state projects.
